On the day of surgery, you will have a final consultation with Dr. Miller. Your breast augmentation procedure will be performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Miller offers several incision options:

  • Periareolar (around the edge of the nipple)
  • Inframammary (under the breast)

Dr. Miller can place the implants underneath the muscle (submuscular) or over the muscle (subglandular). Dr. Miller prefers submuscular placement in women who are thin and have very little breast tissue, but always considers the potential benefits subglandular implant placement may provide your unique case. Together, You and Dr. Miller will decide the best location for your implants, while minimizing the visibility of any possible scarring.

  • Crescent lift (the most minimal lift, leaving a slight scar on the upper areola)
  • Circumareolar lift (also called a donut or Benelli lift, creating an incision around the areola)
  • Lollipop incision (incision running vertically from the bottom edge of the areola to the breast crease)
  • Anchor lift (also called a Wise pattern (incision around the nipple, vertically from the bottom edge of the areola and then horizontally beneath the breast)

Dr. Miller usually employs the most popular breast reduction method, which involves three incisions. He will make one incision around your areola. A second incision will run vertically from the bottom edge of your areola to the crease underneath your breast. The final incision will follow the curve of your breast crease. Your breast reduction procedure will be performed under general anesthesia.
